WHO WE ARE

The Dance Company at Virginia Tech is a student organization with the purpose of fitness, friendship, artistic expression, and performance service. Although our members come from a variety of dance backgrounds, we share a common bond in our love for dance. This combination of style and skill are what makes DCVT unique. Our abilities cross a wide range of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and contemporary. All choreography is created by our members, and is original to DCVT.

DCVT has two major performances at the end of both fall and spring semesters. We also have various small performances such as pep-rallies and other events around Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech community.

We also have formal and semi-formal dances, socials with fraternities and other organizations, and homecoming festivities. Being on DCVT isn’t just about dance; it’s about having a great time with great friends!

Auditions are held at the beginning of every fall semester. Any registered Virginia Tech student can audition for DCVT. Check out our Instagram and Facebook pages for updated audition information!

"Hokies often say “This is Home” when talking about the profound sense of belonging and community we get to experience attending school in Blacksburg. If Virginia Tech is Home (and it is) then DCVT is Family. Dance Co was the place I always felt fully welcomed and accepted to be the person and dancer that I am. It was where I wanted to go after a long day of classes and the people I wanted to see no matter what mood I was in or what else was going on in my life. They were the friends who checked in on me when my outside of dance life was hard and were the first to offer a helping hand with anything I was working on. My college experience and life would not be the same without my time on DCVT and the girls I got to share that time with. Dance Company gave me the space to learn how to become a leader, the confidence to go out and try things outside of my comfort zone, and the love that comes with finding your people and encourages you to strive for something bigger. Having graduated, I feel more confident in the next step of being a working adult and knowing I found the friends of a lifetime. DCL now, forever, and always."
